‘ Update: My(23m) girlfriend(22f) blocked every girl on my Instagram while I was in the shower’

The night after I submitted my original post, I told her I needed boundaries while gaming with my friends. This resulted in a bad argument/break-up. She broke my PC and threatened to give my cat to the humane society. The kennel was hers so I had no way to get him out until I convinced her not to make this the cat’s problem.

She also threatened my sister for letting me stay with her, and started harassing my friend I play games with. She made sure to call all of her friends and family to make sure they knew she was 100% the victim.

While I was putting my stuff in the car she started kicking my bags, threatening me, and tried to get in the car while I was pulling off. I received about 400 phone calls, texts, instagram messages, etc.

I wanted to relay some of your advice to her, but she clearly want interested in taking any accountability. I blocked her on all platforms.
I forgot a bunch of stuff while scrambling to leave, and she told me she was selling my $600 Garmin, and anything else I forgot.

Me and my cat are now living on my sister’s couch for the time being. To everyone saying “Dude just leave”, I planned on secretly moving all my stuff out while she was at work because I knew this would be the reaction.

Here’s what people had to say to OP:

Stuka_Ju87 −  Call the cops. They can offer an escort to pick up your belongings. And press changes on the items she broke.
She broke my PC and threatened to give my cat to the humane society.

The kennel was hers so I had no way to get him out until I convinced her not to make this the cat’s problem. Also someone is not allowed to kidnap your cat because it’s in their kennel.

elle_hell −  She’s an abuser. Never be alone with her again. When/if you go back to get your stuff bring people you trust with you. Not just because she might hurt you, but because she might accuse you of things. She clearly has no limits. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. Be safe.

AwokenDiscontent −  You need an EPO and gather all the proof of damages to take her to small claims court

Insomniac42 −  Yeah, this is when Reddit’s “just talk to her “ and “communicate “ advice is crap. I would’ve went with the “move when she wasn’t around to further abuse you” route. Good luck and I’m glad you got the cat!

ArmyCatMilk −  First, as crazy as this has been for you……….you need to know that the fallout would have been worse the longer you delayed the breakup.. Tips – You better get life360 on your phone, you and your family/friends.

This is the type of girl to go to the cops and falsely claim that you SA’ed her. Life360 will help your case if she does that. The app proves where you were and for how long. If she bothers you at work, and if you have an understanding boss, ask if a police report for harassment can be made.

Obstruction of a business, public disturbance, etc would all be valid. Then use those charges to file a restraining order. Also, invest in some battery powered nanny cams for the inside of your home. You can find some cheap, but reliable cams, for about $30.

PhoneRings2024 −  She has some issues which you already found out about. Call the cops, file a report and find out if they can accompany you to retrieve what’s left. Then block her on everything and go NC

JMLegend22 −  Tell her that if she sells anything and doesn’t return it to you in great condition you’ll take her to small claims court and every time she collects a check you’ll be getting those garnished wages.

dheffe01 −  Call the police non emergency line and get them to escort you over to collect your tings, show them the messages you got.

AccordingPears158 −  Get a police escort, get your stuff. This is why the “just talk to them!!” advice that is always given, while fine for most situations, should stop being so ubiquitously given.

She already did something that showed a level of mental instability, how were you supposed to reason her out of a mindset she didn’t reason herself into? Sorry you’re going through this, what a garbage situation.

RevolutionaryCow7961 −  Looks like you dodged a bullet here.

This story highlights the importance of recognizing and addressing toxic behavior before it escalates. Do you think the user’s decision to leave was the best course of action? How would you handle a situation involving such extreme reactions? Share your thoughts below!
