Magalli Jimenez welcomed a lovely daughter named Ava Skye. The initial year of Ava’s life was joyful, but things took a downturn when Ava turned 13 months old.

Jimenez noticed her daughter in pain and took her to a doctor. The doctor gave a grave diagnosis: muscle cancer, hindering the little girl’s physical growth and causing distress.
Facing this challenge head-on, the young mother steeled herself to be a pillar of strength for her child. Despite facing challenging chemotherapy sessions, she maintained hope by trusting the treatment plan provided by Skye’s oncologist.
The family rejoiced when Skye was declared in remission after several rounds of chemo and check-ups. However, their joy was short-lived, as the little girl soon experienced a relapse.

In July 2022, the family received distressing news about Skye’s cancer relapse. Doctors explained that the cancer wasn’t responding to treatment, and the only option was surgery. However, due to Skye’s young age, the chances of a full recovery were slim after the procedure.
This news was heartbreaking for the family. Jimenez realized that she might have only a few days, or at best, a few weeks, left with her daughter. Witnessing Skye’s gradual decline from a healthy toddler to a frail one, barely able to walk or talk, was incredibly tough.
Faced with this reality, Skye’s mother decided to admit her to hospice care, aiming to make the little girl’s final days as comfortable as possible. Despite occasionally taking moments to cry in the bathroom, Jimenez always made a conscious effort to share smiles and laughter with her daughter.
“We will just let her live her life and enjoy her and do all the things that we’ve ever wanted to do with her. We’ve made a bucket list for her,” Jimenez said.

Jimenez’s friend, Davina Galvan, also a mom to a child battling cancer, started a GoFundMe page to collect $5,000. She aimed to ensure Jimenez had enough funds to fulfill her daughter’s bucket list.
On August 22, 2022, Skye took her final breaths with her mother by her side. As Skye passed away, her mom held her close, feeling both heartbroken and relieved that her little one was no longer in pain.
Just a day before Skye’s passing, the tiny girl, struggling to stand, serenaded her mom, looking into her eyes. She sang her favorite song: “I love you. You love me. We are a happy family. With a great big hug and a kiss kiss. Won’t you say you love me too?”
Her mom captured this touching moment on video and shared it with the world. The video aimed to let everyone see what a sweet soul the toddler had been, providing comfort to her mother in those final hours.

“My heart will forever be broken, it will never be the same, but I promised her that I would live for her. Hug your kiddos a little harder today, even when they drive you insane,” Jimenez said
Jimenez expressed her constant longing for her daughter and the strong desire to embrace her again.
