Dolly Parton Defends Kid Rock Amid Criticism

Dolly Parton, the iconic country music star, has always been open to collaborations, but when her duet with Kid Rock sparked controversy, she remained true to her message of love and acceptance. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dolly addressed the situation with her trademark humor, emphasizing that her love for Kid Rock doesn’t diminish her love for others.

“I did a song with Kid Rock…before the controversy that he had,” Dolly shared in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. With her wit, she continued, “Just because I love you don’t mean I don’t love Kid Rock. Just because I love Kid Rock don’t mean I don’t love you.”

The controversy that attracted the attention of critics arose from a video that was shared by Kid Rock. This video was interpreted as a form of protest against a transgender influencer who is associated with Bud Light. Despite some people urging Dolly to sever ties with the musician, she chose to stand her ground.

“Cancel culture? I think that’s terrible,” Dolly declared. “We all make mistakes… If God can forgive you, so can I.” And with a little Dolly twinkle, she added, “Now, I happen to believe in God… so, therefore, I am able to see it like that.”

When asked about her perspective on transgender individuals, Dolly doubled down on her belief in acceptance, advocating for fair treatment for all. “I just want everybody to be treated good,” she claimed. “I have some of everybody in my own immediate family… I know and love them all, and I do not judge.”The conversation took an unexpected turn when the topic of using artificial intelligence to replace deceased entertainers was brought up. Dolly’s response was immediate and filled with emotion: “No. I ain’t going to consider AI as a human being… That scares me to death. It’s like the mark of the beast.”
