Brad Paisley Delivered A Touching Performance At George Jones Tribute Concert

Did you watch the television broadcast of the event “Great Performances – George Jones: Still Playin’ Possum”? Which one impressed you the most? We wandered on social media and asked for some people’s viewpoints and we got the answer of “Brad Paisley’s performance.” Let’s watch this in the video below and then you’ll realize how breathtaking it was.

Brad Paisley participated in a special tribute event called “Great Performances – George Jones: Still Playin’ Possum” in collaboration with PBS. The event, held on April 23, 2023, at Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama, honored the legendary George Jones, just two days before the tenth anniversary of his passing.

Airing on PBS on February 23, 2024, the event showcased performances from notable country music artists such as Travis Tritt, Tanya Tucker, Dierks Bentley, and more, all paying tribute to George Jones.

Brad Paisley, given the honor of commemorating Jones, decided to perform “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” often regarded as one of the greatest country songs ever written. Originally released by Jones on April 14, 1980, the song faced doubts from Jones himself initially, who famously said, “Nobody’ll buy that morbid son of a bitch.”

However, it defied expectations, becoming a chart-topping success and marking Jones’s return to solo number one status after six years.

The video of his performance was shared widely on social media and got much attention. While many were melted by his beautiful song, others admitted to crying whenever they repealed this video.

Obviously, in the “Great Performances – George Jones: Still Playin’ Possum” event, Paisley’s powerful rendition of the iconic song’s opening line captivated the crowd, setting the stage for a remarkable tribute to one of country music’s most enduring legends.
