At 103, Leo Pearlstein Still Drums To The Beat With “All Of Me”
On April 5, 2024, Leo Pearlstein celebrated his 103-and-a-half birthday, marking a remarkable milestone as the oldest living jazz drummer in the world.
He caught everyone’s attention when he jammed with his son and a friend on the classic tune “All of Me.”
People were blown away by Pearlstein’s impressive drumming skills, along with the talent of his son, David Bluefield on piano, and Steve Cole on clarinet and vocals. What is more exciting to know is that his son is a Warner Bros recording artist and award-winning songwriter.

For those who might not know, Leo, called “King of Culinary Public Relations” had a thriving agency, which worked with top food and beverage brands. He gained fame for his work with Hollywood icons like Abbott & Costello, Bing Crosby, and Doris Day.
Despite that, Leo’s passion for music remained strong throughout his career. Up until his late 90s, he would host musical jam sessions with his son at least three times a year. Despite his busy professional life, music was always a cherished part of his world.
Leo played drums alongside local jazz musicians and even some of his own clients. These sessions, known as the “Living Room Sessions,” became beloved events in their community, highlighting Leo’s deep love for music.
Now, at 103 years old, Leo might not be playing as often, but the spirit of these sessions lives on. They stand as a tribute to his unwavering dedication and the joy he brought to those around him.
