‘ I (46m) walked in on my boss (42m) with my daughter (23f).’

I don’t know what to do. I’ve been working at my company for over 10 years. I’ve gotten close with my boss and his family. We decided to have a little get together on my birthday. We were all out on the porch and I went to go use the bathroom. Our guest bedroom just so happens to be on the way to it.

As I walked past it, I heard someone try to get up quickly. That was when I saw the both of them in bed. My boss immediately tries to justify what they were doing but he knew I wasn’t buying it. I just couldn’t get the image out of my head of them together. I didn’t know what to do so I just decided to lock myself in my room.

When I went back out my daughter had already left and my boss kept his distance. This was almost a week ago but I haven’t been to work. I’ve been using my sick days to see whether or not I want to resign or not.

Here’s what people had to say to OP:

Wepobepo −  Perfect time to ask for a raise

theredbitusers01 −  Is your boss a married man?

OutspokenPerson −  Talk to your daughter, carefully, first. Hopefully he didn’t coerce her by threatening your job and hopefully he hasn’t been grooming her for a decade.. I’m so sorry.

SiouxsieSiouxsEvlEye −  Is there an employee relations line you can call anonymously? Is the boss top dog/owner of a small company or are we talking Fortune 500 organizational hierarchy with additional bosses over your boss?

It’s a tricky situation but I don’t think it’s fair for you to give up your job. Especially if it can be resolved by transferring to a different team. There’s a major conflict of interest at this point with the potential to magnify if the boss is married and/or things don’t work out with him and your daughter.

You don’t need to be caught up in that and risk your financial security over it. You may want to re-think about leaving during Covid times, especially if you are in an industry that is having a tough time and tightening up with hiring.

Ammcd2012 −  Time for a raise! No seriously, you may want to talk to your daughter and do some fact-finding.. Was this an ongoing relationship? Was your daughter or your boss impaired by alcohol? Is your boss or your daughter married or in long term relationships already and this constitutes cheating? I would gather the pertinent information before moving forward. If they are seriously in love you may have a son-in-law for a boss… Best wishes!

Update: I may have to call this one, several of us asked for key facts (is the boss married / age when he and his daughter met-the basics) and he randomly replies “the boss has a wife on a business trip” and offers 0 other data. For someone seeking real help I would explain the situation thoroughly. . .I am sure he enjoyed everyone biting eachothers heads off. . .

Ludo1789 −  Does the boss have a family? Also of course the daughter can sleep with whoever she wants but on the boss’ part this is disgustingly unethical.

tubistyle −  What a s**tty, disrespectful boss!! Your boss is 42? He still hasn’t grown up. You don’t go sneaking around with someone’s daughter in their own home. WTF. Don’t resign. You need a severance package if you are going.

This is complicated. It might not be s**ual harassment, but it’s inappropriate in the sense this puts you in a bind. He’s your BOSS, f**king your daughter (if it got to that), and your next moves may negatively affect your career because he’s your boss.

It works both ways, but usually in favor of the boss. Welcome to what it’s like to be s**ually harassed. Go file a complaint to HR. Get this documented. Your boss should be fired. Incredible lack of judgment.

nonproper −  lol, this post is fake as s**t

RheimsNZ −  You should sleep with his boss to establish dominance.

xnaleb −  Seems fake
