Young Boy Took On “Bohemian Rhapsody” Challenge From Two Gentlemen
“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen is undeniably a timeless song that has stood the test of time. It is regarded as a musical masterpiece and often touted as the greatest rock song ever created. The complexity of its composition is remarkable, especially considering its immense popularity. Perhaps this is why two men interrupted a young boy to challenge him to play it.
Little did they realize that 12-year-old Cole Lam had already prepared to perform the popular song. When they discovered this, they encouraged him to continue playing—and that’s when the enchantment began! Cole is an exceptionally talented young individual.
In addition to his piano skills, he is also a gifted singer, songwriter, and musical composer. While he often performs in public spaces, his performance at London St. Pancras International Station is truly extraordinary. Notably, he was playing on the very piano generously donated by the legendary Elton John.
After the brief interruption from the men, Cole poured his heart and soul into the performance. Not only did he flawlessly play the song, but he infused it with such raw emotion. It’s truly a mesmerizing spectacle! As he reached the bridge, the young prodigy became completely immersed in the music. And to top it off, he ended the song like the way he began.
Since the video was uploaded on YouTube in July 2019, it has amassed 123 million views with 1.6 million likes. These are extremely impressive numbers. The comment session is filled with compliments such as “The best I have ever heard. The kid nailed it and the emotion he put into every note felt loud and clear! Way to go kid! A true pianist!”
One YouTuber wrote, “I cringed when I heard the keys that were out of tune fearing the worst, but amazingly he adjusted his playing so as not to draw too much attention to the out of tune piano. Truly stunning considering what he was up against. Anyone who plays the piano knows what a feat this was.”
