Train Passengers Create Joyful “Over The Rainbow” Chorus

On a typical Monday morning in Australia, train commuters were surprised by an unexpected sing-along to “Over the Rainbow.” This heartwarming event was organized by Liberators International, a group dedicated to spreading spontaneous happiness.

Known for their creative efforts to bring joy to everyday life, they aim to brighten the routine and connect people through shared moments of positivity.

Peter Sharp, founder of the Liberators, started the train sing-along by expressing gratitude to the commuters for being themselves. He then handed out lyric sheets while his partner hummed the melody and strummed a ukulele. Some passengers chose to record the moment, some eagerly grabbed the papers and joined in the singing.

As the song filled the train, commuters couldn’t help but smile and join in, making the usually mundane trip a memorable and uplifting experience.

The train ride began like any other, with passengers settling in for their usual commute, anticipating a few solitary moments. But instead of the expected quiet, a wave of spontaneous joy swept through the train. Commuters found themselves singing, smiling, and laughing together, transforming an ordinary journey into something extraordinary.

As the Liberators described it, it was “a humanitarian check-point; a brief moment in time to see that beyond our differences there is love and humanity.”

Since its release in 2015, the video has amassed over 37M views and 834K likes. It shows how all those isolated people, thinking their own thoughts, come together and let their voices sound together in one harmony, making a masterpiece.
