A Heart-Stopping Moment As Soloist’s Treasured Violin Was Knocked Out Of His Hand
One of the world’s top violinists faced a heart-stopping moment when his treasured violin accidentally slipped from his hands during a performance of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.
This unexpected event occurred during a special concert for the 60th anniversary of the Mlada Boleslav Chamber Orchestra.
Star Czech violinist Pavel Šporcl was deeply engrossed in his performance when conductor Marko Ivanovic signaled the end of the first movement with a sweep of his baton. In a sudden and unfortunate accident, the baton struck Šporcl’s violin, causing it to slip from his grasp.
The audience gasped in shock as they watched the violin plummet towards the floor. This dramatic incident left everyone in disbelief, and the entire moment was captured on video:

In a moment, Šporcl quickly stuck out his foot to cushion the fall of his precious violin. Remarkably, the instrument remained undamaged, and a quick strum of the strings confirmed it was still perfectly in tune. This allowed the concerto to continue seamlessly, much to the relief of both the soloist and the audience.
After the video was uploaded on Instagram, it got plenty of humorous comments such as” ‘That conductor is kinda looking at him like “why did you drop your violin bro?'”
Another added, “I love how he tried to save it with his leg. So cool!”
It is said that Šporcl’s violin, made by the contemporary Czech violin maker Jan Spidlen, is celebrated for its unique shape and striking blue color. It stands out in the world of classical music due to not just its appearance but also for its exceptional sound quality.
