Snoop Dogg Brought To Tears By Austyn Stancil’s Emotional Knockouts Performance
The Voice 2024 has been a season to remember, showcasing an incredible range of talent from across the country. Each performance brings something unique, from powerful vocal showcases to heartfelt emotional moments that have left fans in awe. It’s a season full of unforgettable moments, proving once again why the show is a favorite for music lovers everywhere.
On the November 11, 2024, episode of The Voice, Snoop brought together Stancil, Christina Eagle, and Jake Tankersley for his first-ever knockout round. This unique stage of the competition allowed each contestant to select their own song, giving them a chance to shine in their own style.
Stancil, an Oakland native, chose the emotional classic “Dance With My Father” by Luther Vandross. During rehearsals with Snoop and guest mentor Sting, he opened up about the personal meaning behind his song choice, setting the stage for a deeply heartfelt performance.
“Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of my father’s death,” Stancil told Snoop and Sting. “It’s going to be a rough one, but we’re going to get through this.”
Snoop was so moved by Stancil’s performance that he immediately left his seat to give him a heartfelt hug. “Don’t cry, hold it in,” Snoop said. “Sing it, yeah give me that.”
As Stancil began the R&B classic, his powerful delivery struck a chord with Snoop. By the end of the performance, Snoop embraced him once more, reflecting on how the song stirred memories of his late mother and other loved ones he had lost.
“Look, he’s gone,” Sting said while pointing to Snoop whose tears rolled down his face. “So am I, inside, but you know, I’m British — we don’t show our emotions.”
Snoop shared how he once broke down during a performance after losing his mother in 2021 but found strength by remembering what she would have wanted—for him to keep doing what he loves. That resilience and determination struck a chord with the audience and his fellow coaches.
Later, contestant Stancil delivered a powerful knockout performance that earned a standing ovation from everyone, especially Gwen Stefani and Michael Bublé.
