Reba McEntire And Dolly Parton’s Soul-Stirring Duet Of “Does He Love You” Will Give You Chills

In 2021, country music icons Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton finally joined forces for a legendary duet.

Although it may be surprising, this was their first collaboration. They chose to cover “Does He Love You,” a classic originally performed by McEntire and Linda Davis in 1993.

The song, written by Sandy Knox and Billy Stritch, tells the story of a wife and her husband’s mistress, singing to each other, asking: “Does he love you, like he loves me?” The song was a hit with fans and quickly made its way into the Top 50 on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart.

“It turned out really good,” Parton told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live back in July 2021. “I have always wanted to sing with her and I don’t know why we never did it until now. But we really sounded good together and I think the fans are going to like it.”

When it came to their duet, McEntire said, “It’s amazing that we’ve never done a duet. We’ve never [sung] together. I’ve gone on programs to sing for her, and she’s done that for me. But to never sing a song together is kinda weird.”

Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton didn’t just collaborate on a song; they brought their duet to life in a music video. In the clip, the two meet up in a club, sitting at a table with drinks in hand as they sing to each other. Eventually, they take to the club’s stage, delivering an emotional finale to the song.

Reba McEntire, known as Reba, is an American country singer, songwriter, and actress. She started her career in high school, singing in the Kiowa High School band, on local radio with her siblings, and at rodeos.

Dolly Parton is another iconic American country singer and songwriter. She initially gained fame writing songs for others and broke out as a solo artist in 1967 with ‘Hello, I’m Dolly.’

Both Reba and Dolly are considered among the greatest country artists of all time, making their collaboration on this duet a natural fit.
