Musicians Plan Record-Breaking 26-Hour Concert Honoring Women In Music
On Feb. 22, a gathering of over 120 musicians came together with the aim of breaking the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Acoustic Music Live-Streamed Concert.” The event spanned an impressive 26 hours, showcasing a diverse range of musical genres, including pop and classical.
What made this concert truly unique was that every single piece performed was composed by either a woman or a non-binary artist. This emphasis on highlighting the work of female and non-binary composers added an extra layer of significance to the event.
By featuring such a wide array of music created exclusively by these underrepresented groups, the concert aimed to promote inclusivity and empower artists who are often marginalized in the music industry.

“I want to contribute to change,” soprano and organiser Gabriella Di Laccio told Classic FM. “But I think we need to be bigger, because I want to be as big as the people who have the power to make change.
“So in order to create a movement that was bigger than me, bigger than Donne, bigger than classical music, I thought: let’s break a record.”
A diverse group of renowned performers came together under the banner of inclusivity and representation to participate in an extraordinary event. This groundbreaking attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Acoustic Music Live-Streamed Concert” featured notable musicians such as Tony Moore, former Iron Maiden keyboardist, Antonio Oyarzábal, pianist, Carolyn Sampson, soprano, and Roderick Williams, baritone.
The driving force behind this momentous concert was the Donne, Women in Music charitable foundation. This foundation is dedicated to promoting inclusivity and equal representation for women in all aspects of the music industry. The 26-hour-long concert was yet another extension of their mission to empower and support women in music.
