What On Earth Was That Vocal? Leanne Mitchell’s Covers Will Leave You Speechless

Leanne Mitchell became a household name for fans of The Voice when she won the first season of The Voice UK in 2012. Her journey to victory began with memorable performances that showcased her powerful voice and stage presence.

Starting her musical journey from a beloved holiday park, Mitchell dreamt of following in the footsteps of icons like Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera and took her music from the seaside to the big time. She appeared on the first season of “The Voice UK” and went on to win the competition with her coach/mentor, Tom Jones.

Despite not being favored to win at first, she surprised everyone with soulful renditions of Whitney Houston’s “Run To You” and a standout duet with her coach, Tom Jones, performing “Mama Told Me Not to Come.”

Mitchell challenged herself by Whitney Houston’s “Run to You”, the fourth single from “The Bodyguard” soundtrack. Experts say that singing this song perfectly, like Whitney, is incredibly difficult due to its demanding vocal range. However, Mitchell’s rendition was exceptional, effortlessly hitting the highest notes required.

When it comes to “Mama Told Me Not To Come”, Leanne Mitchell and Tom Jones blew everyone away with a breathtaking rendition. The chemistry between them was electric. Mitchell showed no signs of intimidation sharing the stage with the legendary Tom Jones, and together they infused the classic song with soulfulness.
