‘ I (28M) saw a text from my girlfriend’s (27F) male coworker, saying that she has the “best in town,” and not sure what to think?’

Earlier today when my girlfriend was getting ready in the morning I saw a text pop up on her phone (I usually wouldn’t look but she left it on the bed facing up, and her texts come through pretty prominently) from a male coworker that she’s told me about in passing, let’s call him Doug.

So I had no clue what the context of the situation was, but all I saw was the one text stating “you sure do have the best in town 🦐” WITH THAT EXACT EMOJI. So now I’m just confused because I feel like that’s some code for something? She was also hella dodgy when I casually dropped that Doug texted her.

She avoided my gaze for the rest of the morning while we were getting ready, and seemed distracted when I dropped her off. Thoughts on what that might mean, or how to approach her?

Quarterinchribeye −  “Hey, can you cook us some shrimp tonight? Oh, you can’t? Doug said you had the best in town…”

anglflw −  Following because I’m an old who doesn’t know how to interpret emoji.

spiteful_rr_dm_TA −  Well either she makes a mean gumbo, or she is f**king Doug. I’ll let you decide which is more likely, especially considering she felt so guilty she couldnt make eye contact

tb0904 −  Sit her down. “This has been bugging me since I saw the text pop up. What did he mean that you have the best in town with the shrimp emoji?”

krispeykake −  Unless she brought in Cajun shrimp to work for her coworkers to try, think you know the answer.

Opposite-Exam-7435 −  PRAWNS?! 🦐

Squash-Reasonable −  Best tail in town,? Shrimp is like mostly tail.

David_ior −  I don’t get how you can see a text like that, be bothered by it, then not ask your GF to show you the text thread just to ease your mind. Crazy to me how people are operating out here.

AlwaysForgetsPazverd −  Guys, everyone chill. It’s a lobster. Oh, s**t, no this one is the 🦞 lobster. She’s definitely f**king Doug.
