Golden Buzzer Choir’s Stirring 9/11 Tribute Brings Goosebumps To America

Something truly special happened on the night of the 2018 America’s Got Talent semi-finals. The show fell on September 11th, and the 160-member choir chose to honor the 17th anniversary of the tragedy in a powerful way.

Dressed entirely in white, each singer carried a single white light, and they passed small flashlights to the audience so everyone could join in. As the Dolby Theater glowed softly, the choir’s heartfelt performance created a truly moving tribute, one that left the audience in awe and brought chills to everyone watching.

Enjoy the special performance below:

Ahead of the big night, the choir hinted at an emotional tribute to come in a post to social media. “We have been waiting to sing tomorrow’s song all season long. Please join us tomorrow night on America’s Got Talent for a very special tribute to the ones who risk their lives for total strangers because they know that every life is precious – regardless of age, race, or beliefs. Let’s all unite on this somber day in our country’s history to create one joyous song!”

When the moment finally arrived, it didn’t disappoint. It is a joyous song indeed!

Howie Mandel, one of America’s Got Talent’s well-known judges, captured the essence of the performance perfectly, summing up, “You are so much more than just a choir. You know, you make us feel whatever song you are singing and you can feel that music in your heart. But I love what you add to it. I love the choreography, I love the lights, I love how the room just exploded. And like me, you guys are rebels: we’re wearing white after Labor Day.”
