Herbie Russ’s life has been shaped by struggle, but also by resilience. He started with a promising future as a saxophonist, but an injury in sixth grade left him unable to play. It took years of rehab for him to get his ability back.
However, his journey took another hard turn when drug abuse led to homelessness. Herbie was kicked out of his home because of his addiction, and for years, he played music wherever he could to get by.
Eventually, Herbie felt a calling for something greater than just surviving. He recalls a turning point when he turned to God for guidance, saying, “You’ve given me this talent, I need some direction.” From that moment, he became committed to his music and started helping out at homeless shelters, using his experiences to inspire others.
