“Defying Gravity” Earned A 12-Year-Old Girl A Golden Buzzer On BGT

How much can a child shine on stage? Look no further than Beau Dermott’s case. The 12-year-old girl amazed judges on Britain’s Got Talent with a mesmerizing rendition of “Defying Gravity” from the popular Broadway musical Wicked.

Beau appeared visibly nervous as she stepped onto the renowned Britain’s Got Talent stage, but her eyes revealed a determined spirit. When Beau announced she would be singing “Defying Gravity,” judge Simon Cowell seemed unsure, and fellow judge Amanda Holden remarked, “It’s a hard song.” Indeed, this song is usually reserved for the Broadway powerhouses, making it seemingly unlikely for Beau Dermott to do it justice.

Beau wasted no time in proving her skeptics wrong. Let’s watch her incredible performance in the video below:

Right from the opening notes, it was evident that Beau possessed something extraordinary. Her voice, far beyond what one would expect from a 12-year-old, sounded like that of a seasoned Broadway professional capable of capturing any audience’s heart.

Captured hearts she did; the audience burst into applause as Beau sang with a refined professionalism that seemed beyond her years. Before she even finished the final, empowering note, everyone was on their feet, giving her a well-deserved standing ovation.

Even the notoriously hard-to-impress Simon Cowell confessed, “I was not expecting that,” as Beau left all four judges in awe. As a result, the little girl got a Golden Buzzer, deserving an amazing performance.

The video was reuploaded by some YouTube channels and each of them got plenty of positive comments. A person commented, “I don’t know why, but this always makes me want to cry. How confident she becomes and the way she ends the song with that look of determination…chills.”

Another added, “I have watched this over 100 times and she is so SO amazing. Most beautiful voice on a 12 y.o. old girl! First watching, I was blown away by her. Absolute perfection.”
