Brutally Kept In Cage For 17 Years For Bile Extractions, Two Bears Finally Was Rescued

The life of wild animals will be better if everyone is aware that they deserve to live a normal life. They belong to the wild where they have their families and communities. They may face threats from predators (and poachers) but it’s the rule of nature. However, there are still cruel people that kept these animals illegally and treat them brutally for shameful commercial purposes.

Two Asiatic bears in this story are also victims. They were kept in small cages for 17 years for bile extractions. Their lives were literally covered in darkness. They could only see artificial light, not the sunlight when being taken out for extracting bile. Not just that, they were fed rotten vegetables during these nightmare years.

The poor animals were rescued from an illegal ‘bile farm’ in Vietnam. Their owners “imprisoned” them in dirty metal cages in a dank basement under a clothes shop in Son La province, Vietnam.

Workers from animal charity Four Paws carried out the rescue. They were shocked at the situation of the bears. Why can humans treat animals in such an inhuman way?

The male bear is called Xuan and the female is called Mo. Being kept in complete darkness most of the time (since 2014) and abused physically and mentally, the pair lost their ambition to live.

That’s the reason why the rescuers had to sedate the pair to bring them out of the cage. After the medical examinations, both are diagnosed with gallbladder disease. It is caused by repeat stabs in the bear’s organs with probes designed to extract their bile.

Not just that, the miserable bears lose multiple teeth as they chewed the bars of the cage to escape from it. But they tried in vain.

Both are in critical conditions and face a long road to recovery.

They are then transferred to a sanctuary in Ninh Binh by a truck. They will get proper care and treatment there. We all hope that both recover soon and come back to their normal life.
