AITA for not telling girl I’ve been seeing I’m actually 5 inches shorter?

A Redditor shares a story about a third date that took an unexpected turn. After revealing that he has prosthetic legs below the knees, he mentions his height before the amputation, leading the woman he’s been seeing to accuse him of tricking her about his height. Feeling blindsided by her reaction, he questions whether he did anything wrong. Read the full story below.

‘ AITA for not telling girl I’ve been seeing I’m actually 5 inches shorter?’

On my third date with a woman I mentioned I have prosthetic legs below the knees. She asked to see them and I said sure. She was quiet for a moment. I said I was sorry and that I should have told her sooner. She said that wasn’t the problem and it was just that they were really long. She asked what height I was before they were amputated. I said I was 5’8” before (I’m currently 6’1”).

She went cold and seemed off. Then said she had to go and left. I later got a very long angry Whatsapp message saying that I tricked her about my height. She blocked me before I could respond. I met her at a bar not an app and have never lied about my height.

Here’s what people had to say to OP:

LikeSnowOnTheBeach −  NTA – and ew! You don’t want her anyway. She clearly couldn’t handle prosthetics but didn’t want to say it. Also, if I had prosthetics and didn’t care for my previous height I’d go taller, too.

LemonIntelligent4301 −  NTA -. Not a great choice to have to make, I’m sure, but you had to choose, and you chose taller. I would have done too!

Early_Entertainer11 −  NTA, obviously. also, i don’t know much about prosthetics, but wouldn’t you be 6’1 at all times anyway? your height before you were amputated doesn’t matter so i’m not sure why she cares..

Infinite_Ad5203 −  NTA. I’m glad this was about height and not-

Individual_Umpire969 −  NTA. Who even asks such a question as “how tall were you before?”

CalyKade −  Lmao this is almost certainly f**e. When you get prosthetics for double amputations, they will more than likely make you shorter rather than taller. It’s like walking on stilts and would be much harder to balance, even at your previous height. I highly, highly doubt any prosthetist would make you 5 inches taller. It’s challenging to even keep your original height. Also adding 5 inches to your shin seems like it’d make your legs ridiculously disproportionate. Yeah this isn’t real.

[Reddit User] −  5 inches is a lot of height to add below your knees. Could make you look a bit disproportionate.

montehall121 −  F**e

Weird_Tolkienish_Fig −  Lol this is so f**e

[Reddit User] −  Lol, really?

Do you think the user is at fault for not disclosing his height in a way that the woman expected, or did she overreact? How important do you think height is in dating, and would you handle a similar situation differently? Share your thoughts below!
