U. Of Tennessee Dance Team Shocked As “Security Guard” Jumps Into Routine
On October 29, 2022, a memorable moment emerged at Neyland Stadium during a Tennessee Volunteers game against Kentucky. A man, later identified as Michael Galyean, disguised himself as a security guard, initially drawing puzzled glances as he began blocking the dance team’s routine.
Suddenly, he joined in on the choreography, effortlessly syncing with the team and wowing the crowd. His bold move not only lit up the stadium but also earned him the nickname “Blue Shirt Guy”.
In the video, a dancer on the team accidentally bumped into him. But just when the crowd thought it was an accident, the undercover security guard broke into an energetic dance.
A YouTuber user commented below on the video, “You brought millions of people joy just by doing this.” Another wrote, “I’ve watched this several times now, and it doesn’t get old. Such a pleasant surprise, and very entertaining. Thank you for sharing the smiles. Job well done!”
In fact, Galyean wasn’t actually a security guard. Instead, he took on that role briefly before a big performance. The Tennessee Dance Team, known for their seven national championships, decided to do something different. It seems that some team members, who are friends with Galyean, thought he would be perfect for a special part in their routine.
As Galyean approached the dancers and positioned himself right in their performance space, he could sense the crowd’s confusion. “I see the shift in the crowd going, ‘Why are you in the way?'” he shared with WBIR-TV. But then, their surprise turned into excitement when they realized what was happening.
Tennessee Dance Team Coach Kelly Tafazzoli told WBIR-TV that she knew Galyean not only looked the part of a security guard but also that “he was a very talented dancer.”
