Male Nurse Fulfills Patient’s Last Wish Unknowingly On Film

Time is an undeniable truth we all face: we grow older and eventually pass away. This truth can be unsettling, but it also serves as a reminder of the preciousness of time.

Have you ever considered what you might desire while lying in bed, waiting for the end? For some, it might be the presence of loved ones, while others might seek comfort in the familiar sounds of music. A classic song can evoke powerful memories, transporting us back to pivotal moments in our lives.

Maria spent her last days in a care facility, aware that her time was running out. Fortunately, one of her former students, Joshua Woodard, worked there in Austinburg, Ohio. He had been taught by Maria since he was just nine years old, creating a bond between them that lasted years.

As Maria faced her final moments, she had one heartfelt wish: to hear “How Great Thou Art” one last time. Eager to grant her request, Joshua took out his phone for the lyrics and sang the beloved hymn.

His angelic voice resonated through the room, touching the hearts of everyone present and leaving a lasting impression as he fulfilled Maria’s final wish.

“Hospice workers are angels but this hospice aide is special,” said Marti Adkins Redmond. “Mary taught voice and piano in her day and this aide Joshua Woodard was one of her students as a kid. Special people hospice workers are!”

Luckily, Maria’s sister-in-law captured the emotional moment on film, which makes the footage all the more poignant since Maria is no longer with us.

Right after the video was released, it quickly went viral, amassing over 9 million views now. A quick look at the comments reveals an outpouring of praise for the man in the video. Viewers online also shared their feelings for precious moments.

One wrote, “I think this is a rather touching and wonderful gesture that one of the nursing staff would go above and beyond to help like this to fill a reasonable request to make a patient rest a little easier. I’m sure it really made her feel not so alone or more of a warmth of her surroundings knowing that the staff is so caring.”
