96-Year-Old Dick Van Dyke And His Wife Revive “Everybody Loves A Lover”

Actor Dick Van Dyke worked in radio, television, film, and stage for over 70 years. He gained fame with “The Dick Van Dyke Show” in the 1960s, showcasing his comedic talent and endearing personality. His film career includes beloved classics like “Mary Poppins” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” where his singing and dancing abilities shone.

Over the years, Van Dyke has won multiple awards, including Emmy, Tony, and Grammy Awards, and continues to be celebrated for his contributions to entertainment across generations.

Beyond the screen, he is a sweet husband and doesn’t hesitate to show his love for his wife. In the video below, he and his wife Arlene Silver spreaded joy by singing and dancing. They delivered a cover of Doris Day’s famous song “Everybody Loves a Lover.”

Arlene Silver directs this lively music video, starring the male vocal trio Vantastix and trumpeter Tony Guerrero. The lively set design adds a playful energy to the feel-good performance.

When the camera focuses on Dick Van Dyke, sitting in a floral armchair, viewers might expect him to stay seated and sing. At 96, that would already be impressive.

But instead, Van Dyke surprises everyone by getting up and dancing alongside his wife, while Vantastix snaps their fingers and sings the chorus. Guerrero then enters with a remarkable trumpet solo, bringing even more energy to the room.

The video ends with him almost stumbling over an ottoman, only to smoothly sidestep it. This video is a wonderful expression of love, joy, and a true celebration of life.

Plenty of viewers who watched the clip praised them. One comments, “This is so good. Dick is masterful, and his wife has a great pop style. They really reinvigorate this song. Love the business at the end recalling his show when he tripped over, and then, later avoided, the hassock in his living room.”

Another writes, “Awesome! Dick Van Dyke is a national treasure! Such a cute couple and catchy fun song. I love how he skirted the stool at the end – shades of the Dick Van Dyke Show!”
