Emotional “Fight Song” Performance By First-Grade Students For Cancer-Fighting Teacher

Battling cancer is incredibly tough, but music has a special way of bringing comfort and joy during such challenging times. At Central Elementary School in Moore, Oklahoma, first-grade students put on a heartfelt performance for their beloved teacher, Emily Marshall, who was facing her eighth battle with breast cancer. As she entered the auditorium, the room erupted in applause, and the young choir took to the stage, singing and dancing to lift her spirits.

The heartfelt celebration brings Mrs. Marshall much-needed support from her school community during a tough period. Accompanied by her husband Danny and their three children, she was surprised by a special performance that showcased the school’s commitment to standing by her side.

This heartfelt tribute definitely left her in tears. As the students sang Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” and danced with infectious enthusiasm, the room was filled with a wave of support. The students and teachers shouted, “We love you, Mrs. Marshall.”

The choir director, Mr. Snyder, highlighted the deep sense of community and care that everyone feels for Emily. He said, “We love her. We care about her. We want her to know that she is not fighting this battle alone.”

After more than two decades of teaching, Emily was overwhelmed by the compassion from her students and colleagues. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, she continues to teach, bolstered by the love and encouragement of her school family.
