Ryan Gosling Got Everyone Dance Along To His Ken-Sational “I’m Just Ken” Performance At The Oscars

Ryan Gosling’s electrifying presence in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is easily one of the best aspects of the 2023 film, and we just can’t get Kenough of him. While Barbie only won one out of nine nominations in last week’s Academy Awards, the Canadian celebrity still captured everyone’s attention, as he transformed into Ken one more time to sing the iconic “I’m Just Ken” on live broadcast.

The 2024 Oscars were lit up with a dazzling performance from Ryan Gosling as he brought to life “I’m Just Ken” from the Barbie movie, donning the character’s flashy pink suit. He was also flanked by an array of fellow Kens, including Simu Liu, Kinglsey Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa, and even rock legend Slash. Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, America Ferrera, and Greta Gerwig also joined in the fun, creating an unforgettable Barbie world spectacle.

The audience, filled with other renowned celebrities, were all on their feet to see Gosling energetically weaving through the audience to the stage, where he was joined by notable Kens and Barbies. The musical arrangement was bolstered by Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and Wolfgang Van Halen’s talents.

The Kenergetic performance reached its climax when Gosling appeared alongside Slash, then seamlessly transitioned to let Robbie, Gerwig, and Ferrera take the spotlight, followed by a special cameo from his La La Land co-star, Emma Stone.

Despite the performance’s buzz, “I’m Just Ken” was edged out by Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” from the same movie, marking the film’s sole Oscar win for ‘Best Original Song. However, Gosling’s performance clearly dominated in terms of presentation. Earlier this year, “I’m Just Ken” also won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Original Song.

“Oppenheimer” emerged as the evening’s victor, sweeping awards including Best Picture, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr., along with accolades for Cinematography, Original Score, and Film Editing, solidifying its status as the night’s big winner. The film also marks the first time that the trio Nolan-Murphy-Downey Jr. won their debut Academy Awards.
