Andrea Bocelli Joins His Son For A Soul-Stirring “Time To Say Goodbye” At Oscars Ceremony

Andrea Bocelli surprised the audience at the 2024 Oscars on Sunday (March 10, 2024) with an unexpected performance. He performed a heartfelt duet of his famous single, “Time to Say Goodbye”, alongside his son, in a brand new arrangement by film composer Hans Zimmer.

The performance started with a graceful string quartet and a group of dancers dressed in blue. As the screens at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles displayed the names of actors, producers, writers, musicians, costume designers, and more who have passed away since the last ceremony, the father-son duo appeared on stage wearing matching blue suit jackets. They beautifully harmonized on Andrea Bocelli’s well-known track.

The Academy also honored late figures such as Tina Turner, Friends star Matthew Perry, composer Bill Lee, actress Chita Rivera, actor Ryan O’Neal, comedian Richard Lewis, actress Glenda Jackson, and many others.

The emotional performance was shared on Andrea Bocelli’s YouTube channel and garnered significant attention. Within 20 hours of its release, the video has accumulated over 560K views and received thousands of positive comments.

The song’s melody and the father-son duo’s vocal melted the hearts of millions of people. Plenty of people wipe their tears because the performance makes them remember artists who contributed to the entertainment industry.
