Teens Shake Off Nerves, Deliver Unforgettable Dance Performance

Stepping onto the stage at the 2017 Grand Nationals, the air was filled with anticipation as Mack West and Trinity Davis, two young talents, enchanted the audience with their breathtaking Shag performance. The dance embodies the vibrant beach culture of South Carolina. They transported everyone to sun-soaked shores, letting us feel the magic of the dance on sandy floors.

But let’s take a step back. For those unfamiliar with the Shag, it’s like having a conversation through footwork. It’s a rhythmic shuffle, a dance dialogue where partners mirror each other, swaying, twirling, and stepping in an eloquent exchange. These two teens, Mack and Trinity, not only mastered this conversation but painted a vivid picture of grace, maturity, and remarkable skill with their footwork. Each step told stories of old beach memories.

Known as the “Swing dance of the South,” the Shag follows a rhythmic pattern, and Mack and Trinity were not just dancing; they were singing a song with their feet. Their mesmerizing harmony, connected like an invisible thread, created a captivating performance that celebrated the rich heritage of the Shag.

The video of their performance went viral at that time and received an abundance of positive comments.

One commented, “That young man’s footwork combined with a wonderful stage presence is all around outstanding. I’m genuinely blown away with how easy he made a difficult routine look. I think someone should let Groff know about him.”

Another added, “Amazing! This is what note teenagers and young adults need to be doing in life and daily activities. Instead of watching TV, and being on the computer, smoking or drinking, and arguing. Get off the floor, get out of bed, stop being Lazy. Get involved in dancing, and music.”
