US Navy Band Wows Everyone With The Lion King Performance
Experience the magic of The Lion King as the U.S. Navy Band captivates audiences with their incredible performance. Filmed at the prestigious U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. This enchanting rendition is part of the band’s highly anticipated 2019 Concert on the Avenue series.
Many people were amazed when Rachel Malone Sarracco, adorned in her immaculate navy whites, flawlessly delivered the iconic isiZulu call from The Lion King’s “Circle of Life.” It’s a moment that will surely make any Lion King fan’s heart skip a beat, as we’ve all attempted to sing along with Lebo M’s unforgettable opening lines.
But the surprises didn’t end there. The Navy choir joined in, responding in isiZulu, while Chief Musician Sarracco and Musician 1st Class Danlie Cuenca took turns mesmerizing us with their lead vocals, also in isiZulu. The isiZulu introduction lasted for over a minute, immersing us in the rich African culture before seamlessly transitioning into the beloved Western pop section composed by Tim Rice and Elton John.
Prepare to be impressed by the enchanting world of The Lion King with this extraordinary performance by the U.S. Navy Band. It’s a viral sensation that will leave you in awe.
The song “Circle of Life” is followed by “He Lives in You,” where Chief Musician Shana Sullivan takes the lead. However, it’s not as impressive as “Circle of Life,” mainly because there’s less Zulu in it. Learning the opening lines in isiZulu for “Circle of Life” was one thing for Sarracco, but for this song, Sarracco, Cuenca, and the choir had to memorize more. Thankfully, this piece is easier because it doesn’t have many of the clicks that can make learning Zulu and Xhosa tricky.
