Cormac Thompson, a young and exceptionally talented choir singer from Lancashire, UK, began his musical journey at the tender age of 8. Fast forward to 2020, and Cormac took his talents to the digital world, launching his own YouTube channel. His natural gift for music didn’t go unnoticed, catching the eye of Decca Records, who saw the potential for something great in this young vocalist.

One of his standout moments came when he lent his treble voice to a moving rendition of “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables” from “Les Misérables.” Recorded in the renowned Masterchord Studio in London, this performance was more than just music; it was a charitable gesture to “Acting For Others,” a charity dedicated to supporting theatre workers during their time of need, a cause all too critical during the challenging year of 2020.

At 13, Cormac’s voice carries a depth and maturity that belies his years. His venture into YouTube singing was initially a heartfelt effort to keep his grandmother in Northern Ireland in touch during the lockdown. This digital sharing sparked a realization in Cormac of his deep-seated passion for singing, fueling his commitment to posting his efforts on the platform.

The year 2021 brought new collaborations for the young Cormac, notably with the accomplished pianist Dominic Ferris, whose impressive resume includes multiple collaborations with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and chart-topping albums. Together, Dominic and Cormac have recorded eight songs, showcasing Cormac’s incredible talent and Ferris’s masterful accompaniment.

Cormac’s voice has not only resonated through YouTube but also reached audiences via television, as he made it to the finals of the “BBC Young Chorister of the Year” competition in 2021. This significant achievement was hosted at the majestic Salisbury Cathedral, with highlights available on Cormac’s YouTube channel.

“I like to listen to all kinds of music, I love Ed Sheeran and I’m learning to play one of his songs on the piano to sing to at the moment too. I really love singing songs with beautiful melodies that really show my voice at it’s best and I am keen to sing these sorts of song before my voice changes to a man voice and that is only ever getting closer every day. I will be very sad when I lose my treble voice but I know that it is a gift that was only ever mine to borrow for a short time and hopefully I wont sound too awful when I get my adult voice too,” Cormac spoke about his musical influence.
