88-Year-Old Colin Thackery’s Heartfelt Tribute On BGT Brought Audience To Tears

An 88-year-old man named Colin Thackery captivated the audience with his unforgettable audition on Britain’s Got Talent. He paid a heartfelt tribute to his late wife Joan by singing “Wind Beneath My Wings”. Known for his powerful yet delicate baritone, Colin’s performance was truly moving and genuine, reflecting the love and devotion he shared with his wife of 66 years.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the room after Thackery’s performance, as his rendition of Bette Midler’s famous ballad left a lasting impact on the audience. Dressed in a striking Army redcoat, the octogenarian sang with such gravitas that it held the audience captivated throughout the entire song. His fellow comrades, also donning the same uniform, were visibly moved by his heartfelt singing. You can watch the powerful audition yourself in the video below.

Judge David Walliams praised Thackery’s performance, stating that it had a profound impact on the entire room. He also expressed his admiration by saying “it was just the most perfect tribute and you sang with such heart that it affected all of us deeply. It was beautiful.”

Britain’s Got Talent’s resident true romantic Alesha Dixon was naturally onboard as well, saying “Colin I really, really loved that. You showed to everyone that it’s never too late to do the things you love and to sing about the people that you love. It was wonderful.”

Amanda Holden was likewise impressed, saying “as I was listening to the words, I’d never thought of it before, that all of the men and women that fought for their country are the wind beneath our wings, because if it wasn’t for you we wouldn’t be here. Congratulations, it was a lovely tribute.”
