81-Year-Old Great-Grandmother’s Golden-Buzzer Performance Has The Whole Room In Tears
At the 2018 “Ireland’s Got Talent”, a small elderly woman with bright white curls and a warm smile stepped onto the stage. This was 81-year-old Evelyn Williams, a widow from Ireland who had not let age stop her from chasing her dream of singing.
She shared with the judges that music had always been a big part of her life, a passion now shared by her granddaughter. Although she had lost her husband, Evelyn found joy and comfort in being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
When Evelyn began singing “Send in the Clowns,” the transformation was astonishing. Initially, she seemed nervous, almost frail, but the moment she started singing, she blossomed into a true diva, her voice filling the auditorium.
Within seconds, the judges were visibly moved, their eyes welling up with tears. As she finished, the entire audience erupted in applause, and the judges rose to their feet in a standing ovation. To her surprise, one of the judges hit the golden buzzer, propelling Evelyn straight to the semi-finals!
Probably, Evelyn had experienced all the downs and ups so she delivered the song so well. The judges couldn’t help but express their admiration, showering her with praise like “You are incredible” and “You’re a lovely lady.”
Countless viewers online showered her with praise. One commented, “Literally cried when she said that her husband would’ve been so proud. Such a sweet, kind, humble lady. If anyone deserved that moment it was her.”
