13-Year-Old James Briscoe Shone On The Killers’ Stage

For several years now, The Killers have been bringing audience members onstage to play drums on their song “For Reasons Unknown.” These lucky drummers often hold up signs expressing their desire to join the band onstage. Since they know in advance which song they’ll be playing, they have time to practice and prepare, minimizing the risk of any major mishaps.

The skill level of the selected drummers naturally varies, but most of them manage to hold their own. In a particular video, we see 13-year-old James Briscoe, who got the chance to play with The Killers all thanks to a sign made by his sister. This memorable moment took place at The Killers’ show at Mt Duneed Estate in Geelong on December 10, 2022, where James absolutely nailed his performance.

According to The Geelong Times, James was called up to the stage about halfway through The Killers’ set. Armed with his own drumsticks, he impressed the crowd and the band alike as he flawlessly executed the drum parts with confidence and style. Singer Brandon Flowers couldn’t hide his delight as he interacted with James during the performance, exchanging words of encouragement and admiration.

Halfway through the song, Flowers took a moment to check in with James, asking him “So far so good James, how’re you doing, are you feeling alright?” Flowers said, “You got 20 000 people rooting for you”. At the end, a delighted Flowers beckons to Biscoe and exclaims, “King James everybody!”

This unexpected performance has received numerous positive comments such as “At 13 he seams to be a well seasoned drummer. Would love to have seen him play another song with the band. Awesome playing, great presence and didn’t miss a beat.”

Another continued, “ncredible and for me seeing the kid grow in confidence during the performance while killing it is wonderful to watch. Imagine at 13 in front of 20k people is just insane. His poise and control while focused on Flowers ensuring right timing is impressive.”
